It has the merit to remind organization studies scholars that there is more to qualitative research than just case studies or interviews. Through an examination of older and newer ways of conducting qualitative data collection, data analysis, and reporting within and outside the discipline, this book provides organizational researchers with a plethora of approaches to choose from. An insightful, yet compact book which points to new (methodological) directions in research pursuits" - Luca Giustiniano, Professor, LUISS Guido Carli University, Rome, Italy "As a scholar who does mixed methods research and with a great passion for rich and thick data, I find this book a very useful guide that will give organizational scholars a clear picture of what qualitative researchers do and what can be done more (better). This is a very useful book for researchers who prefer an evidence-based approach over normative guidelines. It shows that qualitative templates can be transformative and flexible rather than as a strict formula. A must have for new researchers and anyone interested in research without numbers." - Yanto Chandra, Professor, The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, (Incoming professor in City University of Hong Kong), Hong Kong "This book goes beyond the “how to do” recipes for conducting qualitative research which are available aplenty in the market. Instead, it holds a mirror to organization studies and discusses how published authors have actually conducted and reported qualitative research in the disciplinary area. Furthermore, the book acknowledges how organization studies can still adopt and adapt new methodologies and data collection techniques from other, related disciplines. Subsequently, the book facilitates methodological advancement in organization studies through roadmaps and suitable examples." - Michael Gibbert, Professor, Università della Svizzera italiana, Lugano, Switzerland
This book discusses qualitative research in the context of organization studies, in an evidence-based manner. From using innovative research methods to including online spaces in their investigation, organizational researchers are experimenting and exploring the methodological possibilities offered by qualitative approaches. This book deliberates on ongoing trends as well as new qualitative methods which can be adopted by organizational scholars. The first chapter of the book discusses the motivation for the book and introduces the subsequent chapters. In the second chapter, the innovativeness of qualitative research methods in published articles is discussed. This chapter points out several innovative qualitative methods that organizational researchers can utilize– use cases, participatory inquiry research, narrative research, thematic analysis, thematic network analysis, critical interaction technique, Delphi technique, and domain analysis. The third chapter uses a theoretically developed coding scheme to deliberate on the involved research actions and key components in published grounded theory studies. The purpose of the chapter is to discuss which actions/key components are underutilized and under referenced in organization studies. The fourth chapter discusses a categorization of online spaces, focusing mainly on the roles played by these spaces in qualitative data collection. A four-step road map for guiding organizational scholars who are interested in using online spaces in their data collection is also provided thereafter. The fifth chapter concludes the discussion on the trends in qualitative research, discusses the takeaways of the book, and provides some directions for further exploration. This book thus aims to demonstrate the potential of the discussed qualitative methods as well as data collection and analysis techniques, by presenting examples from published research in organization studies and other closely related disciplines where methodological plurality is more prominent.]]>

As it is best known, service sectors are inevitably sensitive to external or internal threats. Over decades, tourism research explored different academic paradigms in quest of answers to a pungent question: what is the future of the tourism industry? From different angles, scholars have devoted considerable time and effort to implement conceptual models to protect the tourism and hospitality industries. Nevertheless, the turn of the century witnessed a new stage of uncertainty, fear and anxiety for the West. Just after the attacks on the US in 2001, policymakers, practitioners and academicians enthusiastically adopted the risk perception theory as a valid guideline for understanding how the organic image of affected destinations can be protected. From that moment onwards, it was argued that the industry was in jeopardy because of countless global risks. These risks included political violence, terrorism, crime, natural disasters, and the environmental crisis, without mentioning virus outbreaks. It is difficult to resist the impression that these global dangers plausibly altered the forms of defining tourism as well as leisure activities worldwide. With the benefits of hindsight, far from being solved, these problems have certainly aggravated in the threshold of time. The radicalization of political violence, associated with an acceleration of climate change paved the pathways for the rise of new paradigms. Ultimately, experts agreed we live in a context of constant crisis. The concept of prevention or the precautionary doctrine (which illuminated scholars` works in past years) has very well set the pace for adaptation (adaptancy) as a main conceptual corpus of applied research today. New (morbid) forms of tourism have come to stay. Having said this, the present book, which gathers well-known and global experts specialized in the tourism crisis, explores not only the different crises the sector is facing but also its future in the years to come. The main argument toys with the belief that any crisis opens the doors to new opportunities, stages or moments that lead to the mutation of the industry. This book is recommended to post-graduate students, policy-makers, practitioners, and scholars who are interested in the turbulent times the tourism industry is going through. **Order the printed version and SAVE 50% on the e-book with Print+eBook. As countries around the world instituted stay-at-home orders and other public health measures, consumers increased their use of online shopping and consumption of entertainment via the Internet, among other changes. As such, businesses have had to adapt their marketing strategies to appeal to this shift in consumer behavior. While some of these changes have reverted as a consequence of increased vaccination rates and the lifting of restrictions, others represent a long-lasting shift in how consumers make decisions that will last beyond the pandemic. This book includes twelve chapters that explore the effect of the pandemic on consumer behavior from a variety of perspectives. **Order the printed version and SAVE 50% on the e-book with Print+eBook**]]> Credit Reporting: Reforms, Scoring and Policies https://novapublishers.com/shop/credit-reporting-reforms-scoring-and-policies/ Thu, 25 Aug 2022 16:54:40 +0000 https://novapublishers.com/?post_type=product&p=128191 Anthony J. Various research approaches to the study of social entrepreneurship are presented. Entrepreneurship is studied as an activity to create new configurations of development factors as socio-technological and socio-organizational innovations. The results of research on the competencies of social entrepreneurs are presented, as well as the results of comparative studies on the development of infrastructure to support social startups and social entrepreneurs. This book covers a wide range of issues, from the analysis of the development of the concepts of "empresa" and social entrepreneurship, to the characteristics of the results of social entrepreneurship practices in various countries, as well as professional development programs for social entrepreneurs and programs of infrastructure and grant support for social projects and social startups.
"A core question about social entrepreneurship is how to socially organize in a way that people—who may be at core selfish—can find ways to express their best selves and care about others. After all, living in society is about some level of social mutuality balanced against some level of personal space, free will, self-dignity, and independence. How can the needs of the many be balanced against the needs of the individual, at scale? What method of government best enables people to thrive, with equity and inclusion and social justice? What are the best ways to set up incentives constructively? And in terms of a country’s leadership, how can they best lead and signal to enable a competitive nation? Olga Agatova’s Social Entrepreneurship: Perspectives, Management and Gender Differences (2022) captures various ways different nations and societies try to meet the needs of their peoples while competing in a zero-sum world. Donahue (Editor) Series: Economic Issues, Problems and Perspectives BISAC: BUS000000 Brand owners have been sounding the alarm about dangerous counterfeit products plaguing the internet for years. As consumers have moved online, counterfeiters have embraced the internet also. Their tools are becoming more sophisticated and their targeted products becoming more wide ranging as they dupe unwitting consumers into purchasing fakes. It is clear that the fight against dangerous fakes in e-commerce requires proactive measures by the platforms. SHOP SAFE takes an important step in ensuring that what consumers see online is what they will get as reported in chapter 1. Counterfeit goods infringe on IPR, and can harm the U.S. economy and threaten consumer safety. U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CPB), the U.S. agency tasked with enforcement against counterfeits at the border, has reported that the annual number of small packages sent to the U.S. since fiscal year 2013 more than doubled, and small packages seized often contain counterfeit goods. Chapter 2 examines: how elements of the EU and U.S. approaches to combating counterfeit goods in small packages compare, any enforcement challenges posed by these goods, and the extent to which CBP has taken steps to address these challenges. Chapters 3 and 4 examine counterfeit medications.]]>
